Best gym in Downey! Both my daughter and I take Jiu Jitsu classes at Academy. Everyone is very helpful and... professional. You truly feel like they are invested in your health and success. You just get a very comfortable feeling as soon as you walk through the door. Professor Hector, Professor Gustavo, and Coach Eduardo are all top notch and best in class. My sons have the privilege of training at Academy. This gym is a gem and we are lucky to have it in the City of Downey.... Professor Gustavo and Hector along with coach Eduardo are outstanding instructors and human beings. This gym is more than a business to them. My sons are not only learning bjj skills, but are learning life long skills of work ethic, respect and camaraderie. This is a clean, and welcoming gym for students and their families. My sons play a variety of sports but I plan on continuing to bring my sons to Academy for many years to come.read more

As a business owner and experienced bjj practitioner with 10 years of training under my belt, I know what qualities to... look for in a business and bjj academy. The following reasons are why I recommend Academy BJJ:1. When you step into Academy BJJ, you are greeted with a warm welcome. 2. The instruction from Professor Gustavo and Professor Hector is world class. Every time I visit, I learn something new. You will not find Professors like Gustavo at most bjj academies. The man is on another level. 3. Their kids program is the best one is the area. I say this from personal experience. I shopped around other local bjj schools and was quickly disappointed. 4. Their location is kept clean and organized. Additionally, every Saturday there’s a farmers market right in front, so that’s pretty cool too. The location is in the heart of Downey. 5. Although they are a very competitive school, the members are not trying to rip your head off or smash you every training session. This is especially important for those individuals who are looking to learn a new skill but don’t care to compete. In short, Academy BJJ is hands down the best bjj academy in the local area because of their welcoming customer service and world class instruction. Give them a try.
